Hi again. Julian and his Big RED Box of Magic here. I've just added another 5 magic tricks and 3 balloon animals to Magician School for kids. The emphasis
with these tricks is on 'eye contact'. This in my view is one of the biggest indicators of low self esteem. I see it in kids every week. It's not just kids who won't make eye contact when talking to me, sometimes it's the parents. And I know, because I once had very low self esteem. It took people who cared for me to point it out, but I never made eye contact with others. If eyes are windows to the soul, I believed mine was vacant and I'd spare others the discomfort of seeing it for themselves. Learning to look people in the eye was paramount to my unlocking the chains.
Performing magic was one of the keys I used. It gave me the confidence that I could make people smile and they would thank me for it. A genuine smile directed towards you is hard to disguise any other way. I would smile back and without warning eyes would meet. It felt really good. Bit by bit this helped my self esteem grow. Now I perform in front of hundreds of people and graciously accept their applause.
I'm going to add some in depth articles about this soon. In the meantime, enter Julian's Magician School: a totally FREE, online resource that teaches magic tricks, provides the confidence boosting help to perform them and above all, encourages making eye contact. For those who don't know me, I use magic to entertain, motivate and help kids overcome shyness.
