FDC rant - can someone tell me the rules? (NSW)

My FDC lady and I have just had a misunderstanding that has blown way out of proportion. I'll explain this in as few words as I can.Was in FDC 2 days a week for past 2 years. Carer goes on leave in Dec/January, I need 2 days a week care for 3 weeks so I enrol DD at long day care up the road from me and let carer know that we will cut down to one day a week FDC when she comes back from holidays.Jan 18 - first day back at FDC carer asks me if there are any spare spots at the LDC. carers can now charge for public holidays, regardless of if they are open or not!

I have just been informed of a new Goverment regulation that any childcare provider can charge for a public holiday a child is booked for, regardless of if they are open or not! I know we've always had to pay for a public holiday but that was only if the centre was open.My FDC carer is charging me for next monday - 28th of December although she isn't open. Apparently with FDC it is up to the carer if they charge or not, they are entitled to it but don't have to charge. What an outrage!See More

A friend of mine was talking about sending her 3 year old to a daycare that has a preschool program.I'm thinking of doing the same one day a week when my little one is older but it would have to be somewhere is a daycare centre as I work a normal day, not school hours.I'm just wondering if anyone else has their child in a daycare that has a preschool program and how it works? Is this common and what do they do thats…See More
