Hi Melissa

Thanks for your comment! The little farm is going great guns! Of late while the toddlers and tots and I weed, the bubs sit in the shade and eat raw beans, snow peas, lettuce leaves and cherry tomatoes which we pick fresh from the plants for them. Most recently the children have asked if we can get a cow, 4 horses and some chooks for our farm...sadly there isn't the space and we live in suburbia! The truly wonderful thing though is all this plant and flower activity has increased the insect population hugely.....the yard is a flutter with butterflies, ladybirds, grasshoppers and worms. Its as though Eric Carle moved in while we weren't looking!....so much scope for extension activities and emergent learning. And of course the bugs have brought many new birds to the party. We are just loving it.

I'm glad to have given inspiration......are you planning a little farm of your own?

I saw a great idea for micro gardening a couple of weeks ago which I'm planning to use in our next planting. They had used hay bales to build the walls of the garden, laying them in a brickies design to strengthen the corners, then filled with rich composted vegie soil.....I think we'll use this method so the children get to build it from the ground up and have a say in the garden's position.....after we discuss full sun and shade of course. Thinking we will plant it with potatoes of all shapes and colours.

Excellent!....yes the preparation for licensing can be intense. Have you clients lined up to start care yet? Doesn't hurt to start advertising and interviewing while you are waiting.
Where abouts are you located and what ages are you planning to cater for?

Hi there.....ahh yes IVF, I remember it well! I guess if you were to begin caring for clients before you fall pregnant, you would need to explain your situation so they can make an informed decision. Also you would need to take your physical condition and health into consideration before accepting some children...for instance, if I were trying to fall pregnant or was expecting, I wouldn't accept a large child still in nappies as lifting a large child on and off a change table could be detrimental to pregnancy. Sounds unlikely but this year alone I've had two four year olds not trained and a two year old who weighs in excess of thirty kilos.
Remember also that the first month or two of running a FDC business is very stressful and tiring as everyone gets used to each other and settles into routine.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you in the IVF stakes. Three yrs of IVF got me my Jack...now a strapping 25yr old man!

Hi Melissa, thanks for joining my group to No toxins in the home for kids.. Do you support the company Melaleuca?? Have you heard of it??
If not I'd love to show you.. I help families convert their monthly expense into a monthly income.. to save time and money by converting their homes to non-toxic products.
Let me know if your interested. Have a great day.
Katie
