Just wondering if anyone knows if there is any federal or state rules regarding childcare centres putting up there fees? My son's childcare centre is putting up fees for the 3 time in 12 months so I want to know are they allowed to do this legally?

I work fulll time, are married & have a son (nearly 4) which can be hard at times as we don't have any family in Oz other than my mum who lives about 30 minutes away...Being a mum has alot of rewards & challenges although I wouldn't change a thing I love it...

personally my experience with childcare so far as not been a pleasant experience for a number of reasons which is why I am trying to move my son into another one althought they are more expensive there serivce & centre seems alot better. My son has been in childcare since around he was 18 months (he's now nearly 4) when he first started the had different owners & the carer's actually cared (told you what had happened that day & what was going on), now they barely speak to you unless you speak to them first. My son was seeing a speak therapist every week (which they knew about) although there was only one girl (a qualified teacher) who was actually interested in helping me with improving his situation which I think is pretty despicable considering he spends at least 38 hours a week there. They (childcare centre) were taken over around June 2008 & since then they have increased fees every six months so my fees are now around $75 more than they were last year not bad when they have reduced staff & there level of care.I now do not bother sending him in clean clothes (without paint) as nearly every shirt I have sent him in has come home full of paint which I have soaked in Napisan & won't come out so if people think he is uncared for or whatever they think I don't really care I pay full fees every week on time & receive crap service. When my son first started there they did drop off & pick up for school (kindy,pre-school & school) now they don't so I have to move him if I want him to go kindy....
The whole situation really frustrates me & makes me wonder why do I bother working? I pay full fees of which I wonder is it worth it when I could stay home & get a couple of hundred a week for nothing... I enjoy working as I need stimulation & I think my son does to but really the way the systems work is absolutely stupid! The government have now come out & said they want carers to be uni educated? that is all well & good but who is going to pay for the extra costs for childcare? We are of course all the women in the workforce then it will be twice the price of now...Well done Kev (Not)
