Hi, you can find home and contents insurance for family day care through Family Day Care Australia on 1800 658 699 or Guild Insurance on 1800 810 213. It is really important that you get something in writing to confirm that the Home and Contents policy will cover family day care activities, otherwise you wont have anything to prove that you advised your insurer that you are operating a childcare business from your home. If you are using your car for your family day care service, you will also need to contact your motor vehicle insurer to find out if they will cover you for using the car for your childcare business. Family Day Care Australia and/or Guild will be able to help you with motor vehicle insurance as well.

thank you for your reply, I have contacted my current Home & contents insurer again and they have confirmed that I would still be covered and they will be sending me a letter regarding this. Thanks again :)

Quila, I know you resolved this issue however I just thought I would post for anyone who comes across this at a later date. I found Family Day Acre Association insurance quite a bit more expensive than others. I now have insurance with NRMA. When you do it on line it asks if you will be provate, business or a combination. When 'combination' is selected, there is actually a drop down box for Family Day Care! I didn't find them any more expensive than their competitors.

Hi Iam a family day carer & I have checked most of the insures & RACQ is the cheapest by far & not to many will insure us I know Suncorp won't if you have a pool. Hope this helps Cheers.
